Eastern and Yucatan Endemics Birding Tour
This is a Birding expedition designed to discover the endemics of Yucatan and other specialties, visiting nature reserves, archaeological sites and the island of Cozumel.
These locations beside the natural and cultural richness inhabit unique and endemics bird species of the area such as Cozumel emerald, Cozumel Vireo, Cozumel wren, Yucatan flycatcher, Black-throated Bobwhite, Yucatan vireo Yellow-backed Oriole, Yucatan Jay, Green jay, Ruddy Woodcreeper, Mexican Sheartail, American Flamingos among others.
Day 1: Arrival
Meet & greet at Cancun international airport and transfer to Ría Lagartos (3 – 3.5 hours)
If time permits, we will start exploring the reserve

Day 2: Ria Lagartos
In the early morning, we will take a boat ride to explore the estuary, looking for endemics like the Yucatan Wren, Mexican Sheartail, Yucatan Bobwhite, and Yucatan Flycatcher, as well as many Flamingoes and shorebirds.
Salt flats are great spots for these birds. Zenaida Dove, resident Eastern Meadowlark, and Yellow (Mangrove) Warbler, among others,

Day 3: Ria Lagartos – Felipe Carrillo Puerto
Early birding is needed to find some missing birds and get ready to drive to Felipe Carrillo Puerto town. On the way, we will make several stops.

Day 4: Vigia Chico Road – Felipe Carrillo Puerto
The Sian Ka’an Reserve is a vast biosphere to explore. First, we will visit the famous roadside Reserva Vigía Chico, where we will look for species such as the Yucatecan Jay, the Orange Oriole, the Pink-Throated Tanager, the Yucatecan Woodpecker, and the Yucatecan Parrot.
There are many chances to spot other species, such as the Ruddy and Tawny Woodcreeper, Royal Flycatcher, Smoky-brown Woodpecker, Buff-bellied Hummingbird, and White-bellied Emerald.
Tonight, we will go out to find Yucatan Nightjar and Yucatan Poorwill

Day 5: Vigia Chico Road – Bacalar Lagoon
After exploring Vigia Chico Road, we went to the Bacalar Lagoon area. Our target birds will be Gray-collared Becard, White-bellied Wren, Olive sprior, Blue-ground Dove, and Black-faced Antthrush.

Day 6: Bacalar
An early morning drive to Tres Garantias Road takes you to a different habitat. The target species here are Red-capped Manakin, White-collared Manakin, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, Scaled Pigeon, White-necked Puffbird, Black-throated Shrike-Tanager, and Gray-headed Tanager.

Day 7: Bacalar – Playa del Carmen
Morning drive to Playa del Carmen, several stops along the way for birding purposes,

Day 8: Cozumel – Playa del Carmen
This morning, we will take the ferry to Cozumel Island.
We will end our trip on the Isle of Cozumel, known for its abundance in endemic species. Here, we will spot specialties like Cozumel emerald hummingbird, Cozumel vireo, Cozumel Wren, and of course, many residents like Black Catbird, White-crowned Pigeon, Caribbean Elaenia, Western Spindolis
